Things to do in Ubud

Bali’s cultural heart — rice terraces, temples and jungle spas

A favourite for honeymoons

Ubud is Bali’s lush, arty interior — emerald rice terraces, river-gorge yoga retreats, Hindu temples and some of the island’s best spas and dining. It’s the romantic, slow-paced counterpoint to Bali’s beaches, and a honeymoon favourite. Give it two or three days in and around town.

Jungle-view villas, river-gorge spas and candlelit dinners over the rice fields — Bali’s honeymoon heartland.

Ubud tips

  • Pre-book a private driver for a day — temples and terraces are spread out with no transit.
  • Visit terraces and temples at opening to beat the heat, the crowds and the selfie queues.
  • Dress respectfully at temples (a sarong, shoulders covered) — sarongs are usually lent at the gate.
