The fairy-tale castle that inspired Disney
A favourite for honeymoons
Neuschwanstein is the dream-like 19th-century palace of “mad” King Ludwig II, perched on a crag in the Bavarian Alps — the castle that inspired Disney’s. With turrets against forested mountains and lakes, it’s one of Europe’s most photographed buildings, and an easy day trip from Munich.
A storybook castle in the Bavarian Alps — pure fairy-tale romance.

Tour the castle and the Marienbrücke view
Interiors are seen by timed guided tour only (and well worth it for Ludwig’s opulent, theatrical rooms). For the classic postcard shot, walk up to the Marienbrücke (Mary’s Bridge) spanning the gorge behind the castle.
