Glamorous island of blue grottoes and sea-stack drama
A favourite for honeymoons
Capri is the glamorous jewel of the Bay of Naples — a craggy limestone island of clifftop gardens, designer boutiques and impossibly blue water, crowned by the sea-stack Faraglioni rocks. It has drawn the stylish since Roman times, and a boat trip around its grottoes is one of the great Italian day trips.
Glamorous clifftop gardens, blue grottoes and sea-view dinners — a classic Italian honeymoon island.

A boat trip around the island

How to get to Capri
Ferries and hydrofoils run to Capri from Naples (about 45–80 minutes) and from Sorrento (about 25 minutes). It’s a hugely popular day trip, but staying a night lets you enjoy the island once the day boats have left.

Capri tips
- Go early — Capri fills with day-trippers by late morning, and the Blue Grotto queues build fast.
- The Blue Grotto only opens in calm seas; have a backup plan if it’s closed.
- Anacapri (up the hill) is quieter and cheaper than glitzy Capri town.
