Things to do in Rainbow Mountain
Striped peaks high in the Peruvian Andes
Vinicunca — “Rainbow Mountain” — is a ridge of mineral-striped peaks in candy bands of red, gold and turquoise, high in the Andes south of Cusco. A relatively recent sensation (revealed as glaciers retreated), it’s a demanding high-altitude day hike that rewards you with one of Peru’s most surreal landscapes.
