Oban Lesbian+ Weekend
The Oban Lesbian+ Weekend is Scotland’s dedicated lesbian and queer-women’s festival — a long weekend of ceilidhs, boat trips, hikes and hosted meals in the west-coast harbour town of Oban, gateway to the Hebrides. Now in its fifth year, it is growing beyond a weekend into a full Oban Lesbian+ Week, with small-group island trips and activities either side. It is a warm, outdoorsy community gathering rather than a big-city party.
When is Oban Lesbian+ Weekend?
3–7 September 2026 (the 5th edition, now a full Oban Lesbian+ Week). It’s held early September each year — a long weekend, now expanding into a full week.

A community-run festival built around a lively LGBTQ+ women’s ceilidh with a live band, hosted meals from casual to fine dining, live music and DJs, and a programme of daytime workshops — foraging, yoga, paddleboarding, wild swimming and hikes around Oban and the nearby islands. It is intimate and easy to come to solo, with welcome drinks and ice-breakers built in.
It is based in Oban itself — a compact Victorian harbour town wrapped around a bay, with the Argyllshire Gathering Halls a hub for the evening events — and spills out onto the water and the surrounding lochs and isles. The setting is the draw: sea, hills and Highland light rather than a club strip.
Where to stay for Oban Lesbian+ Weekend
Stay in Oban town to walk to the harbour, the halls and the meals; it is a small town that fills up for the weekend, so book accommodation as early as you can — many guests use the festival’s own booking help.
